AMON originally formed in 1987 out of Tampa, Florida until the band changed their name
to DEICIDE. After the brothers Eric and Brian Hoffman departed DEICIDE they
resurrected AMON in 2007. These guys have continued on with the killer and crushing
Floridian Death Metal sound they have been known to create. The music has a lot of that
old school late '80's and early '90's Death Metal sound. The music does have that heavy
blasting thick style that has been well known in the Florida Death Metal scene for year.
They have added in some slightly more technical arrangements that mix things up a bit
here and there. I also felt like they had a bit of influences of the Swedish Death Metal
sound mixed in some areas as well. The vocals are done in a thick and throaty Death Metal
growl style. These guys may have started with AMON back in the day and really made a
name for themselves in the scene as being part of DEICIDE, but they have really shined
with this new release as AMON. "LIAR IN WAIT" is by far better than the last few
DEICIDE albums and surely shows how talented and creative these guys are as musicians.
This new offering from FDA REKOTZ is a vinyl release and will come with all new
artwork as well. Check these guys out if your into bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE,
