"AMBITION IS THE SHIT" is the debut release from Turin, Italy's CRY EXCESS.
CRY EXCESS play a style of Metalcore that is new and fresh in this genre that has
become over populated and stale over the years. They are a Metalcore band at the core,
but they add in some elements of Death Metal, Nu Metal and even some Electronica at
times. The music is a mix mash of these styles which keeps everything feeling new and
original. I love Metalcore music, but these guys have giving new life to this genre. I loved
how some parts blend all these styles together while at others one style will dominate the
sound. The faster more aggressive parts is where all the Death Metal influences come into
play. They go from those parts straight into a Electronica almost Techno type passage and
then back into the Death Metal madness. The Metalcore is blended mostly with the Nu
Metal styles and this comes in the grooved out arrangements with breakdowns and
chugging guitars. The vocals is what really helps define the different styles of music
clearly. Jason X will go from a clean clear singing style found in Electronica and then into
a grooved out Rap Nu Metal style and then drop down into a thick low ended Death
Metal growling style. I know that these guys won't grab every fan of the above genres, but
if you want something a little more original sounding then you want to check these guys
out. If you take the best parts of BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, MINDLESS
SELF INDULGENCE, BROKENCYDE, HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD, CIRCUS OF
DEAD SQUIRRELS, BORN OF OSIRIS & SLIPKNOT you'd get CRY EXCESS.
