German Power Metal icons GAMMA RAY are back with their latest release "EMPIRE
OF THE DEAD". These guys have been shredding since 1989 and lets hope they never
stop. After one listen to this release you will understand why. These guys play a very
Progressive form of Power Metal music that melts in elements of Speed Metal and Epic
Metal as well. Their sound covers all ranges of Power Metal from the old to the new.
Their sound has changed a little over the years with new members coming and going, but
they have always stayed Power Metal at the core. Their sound is very full and each song
takes you on a journey and this is where the Epic Metal comes into play. The Speed
Metal parts come in during most of the faster heavier and more shredding parts. The
drums are so fast and hard hitting I felt like I was racing just to keep while I was listening.
I love all the inter mixing of the symphonic with the lightning fast guitars and then the
straight forward dynamic Power Metal. These guys are some of the best musicians you
will ever hear and there is a reason they have been around for so long. This new release is
the most diverse the band has sounded in years, but they still have their signature sound
all through out. If you were to combine elements of JUDAS PRIEST, BLIND
GUARDIAN, HELLOWEEN, FREEDOM CALL, IRON MAIDEN, PRIMAL FEAR
& HAMMERFALL then you would have a close idea of how amazing this band is.
GAMMA RAY is by far one of the best Power Metal bands ever. I suggest every Metal
fan get some of their albums in you collection and play them loud and proud! Power rages
