KING PARROT is an extreme Thrash / Grindcore band hailing from Australia. "BITE
YOUR HEAD OFF" is the bands first full length release and what a release it is. They
play a well balance combination of the Grindcore & Thrash that would pull in any fan of
either genre. I like the fact that on some songs they will lean more towards one genre and
then switch back to the other. The music is brutally fast and aggressive, harsh and abrasive
and smacks you right in the face over and over again. The best part is you will want to take
the beating again and again. The guitar work is where a lot of the Thrash Metal influences
are present. They will take you from a grooved out Thrash riff straight into some spastic
Thrash shredding. The drums and the vocals are where the Grindcore comes mostly into
play. They have a very fast and unrelenting blasting beat that just keeps going. Then the
vocal style comes in and Matt Young's vocals are done in a gritty and harsh sort of
screaming and yelling Thrash style, but with enough Grindcore influence to push them into
Grindcore. These guys remind me of such killer bands as early NAPALM DEATH,
NUCLEAR ASSAULT, MUNICIPAL WASTE, BLOOD DUSTER, VIO-LENCE,
STORMTROOPERS OF DEATH & LAAZ ROCKET. If this list of bands doesn't get
you to check these guys out, them you just don't know what good Metal sounds like.
