I could not find much information on NAKKA, or what I did find was in Russian and I
could not read it.
NAKKA is a killer Death Metal band hailing from Russia. They formed
back in 2003 and lasted only three years before splitting up in 2006. They later reformed
in 2012 and have been crushing it since. I'm not sure what the name of this album is, but it
is the latest they have to offer and comes to us through
which is a Russian Metal label. These guys play in a mixture style of old school meets
new Death Metal. I can hear some of the raw and aggressive brutality taken from early
90's Death Metal mixed with some more modern and Progressive Death Metal of today. I
liked the fact that they threw in a lot of twists and stop and start parts as well as lots of
breakdowns and tempo changes. The guitars, in a lot of spots has a very strong fast
Thrash Metal sound, almost of the late 80's and early 90's, when Thrash was merging into
Death Metal. The vocals are done in a mid ranged thick and throaty style that reminds me
UNLEASHED, AMON AMARTH and ENTOMBED combined. These guys are a
killer band that is very impressive and would surely please fans of the above mentioned
bands and just about every Death Metal fan out there. This is a must to check out, even if
you don't understand Russian.
