The Pennsylvania underground has yet another great band to add to their list, this time in
the form of EXTINCTION PROTOCOL. These guys hail from Erie, Pennsylvania and
play a crushing old school style of Death Metal music. Their sound is done more in the
European style of Death Metal from the '90's era. The music is done in a spastic almost
Grindcore style as well. A lot of the bands coming out of South America & Mexico kept
coming to mind. Their music does have a lot of high speed blast beats, breakdowns & slam
riffs. The vocals are done in a thick lower ended guttural growl and gurgle style. There are
some really cool grooved out parts that would get any crowd moving. The guitar riffing is
so hyper and changing all the time, you could hardly keep up. I liked the thickness of their
sound. It just keeps pummeling you over and over again. I could see these guys fitting in
with just about every band that is on the COMATOSE RECORDS label. If you like your
Death Metal infused with much Grindcore then you'll love EXTINCTION PROTOCOL.
Mix together parts of DYING FETUS, PATHOLOGY, ABORTED FETUS, FACE OF
OBLIVION, BLOODSOAKED, DEHUMANIZED & MORTAL DECAY and you
would get a great idea of the madness that EXTINCTION PROTOCOL has to offer! I
highly recommend this to every die hard Death Metal fan!
