IN THE HIDDEN form back in 2006 out of Sweden initial as a straight up Metal band, but
has since progressed their sound in other directions. The band started out as a three piece
and a few years later grew into a five piece. With the addition of the new members added to
them going in a new direction. The music has a more Modern Rock / Metal feel with some
other influences mixed through out. There is a lot of Progressive Metal that is very
dominate in some spots. This also comes from the way they have structured and built their
songs. I keep hearing a lot of RUSH meets DREAM THEATER meets QUEENSRYCHE,
but just in the music itself. You can also hear some seventies styled Prog Rock inter mixed
within. The guitar work is where the blend of Modern Metal and eighties influenced Metal
comes in. The vocals are where the most melodic and more Modern parts of the bands
sound comes from. It's as if Sully from GODSMACK, Jeff Tate from QUEENSRYCHE &
PINK FLOYD were all one entity and came out in Christoffer Larsson. This isn't one of my
favorite genres of Metal, but I did like this and thought that IN THE HIDDEN would fit in
very well with most of the Prog Rock / Progressive Metal bands that are on SENSORY
RECORDS label. Prog fans will love these guys!
