MARASMUS emerged from Kansas City, Missouri in late 2007 from the lack of real Death
Metal in the scene. They came together from the ashes of different bands in the area. These
guys have gone back to the roots of Death Metal and pulled influences from the scene back
then. They have taken their sound and made it raw, aggressive and brutal Death Metal. A lot
of bands seem to be doing this lately, going back to the start of the Death Metal scene and
creating a new sound with those influences. MARASMUS have done this better than most
out there doing it today. There is a deep low ended sound with some killer grooves and
crushing riffs. The vocals are done in a low ended Death growl style with a few gurggles at
time too. The bands that kept coming to mind were NAPALM DEATH, BRUTAL
TRUTH, CARCASS, DISMEMBER, GRAVE & CRYPTOPSY. If these are amazing
bands to be compared to, then you don't know what good Death Metal is. I do, and
MARASMUS is one of the new leaders in the Death Metal scene and hopefully they will
be around for a long time putting out crushing albums like "MOUNTAINS OF DEAD"!
