"DESCENT FROM HELL"

Formed back in 2004 out Germany comes THE ORDEAL. These guys are an amazing
Power / Heavy Metal band. The guys have been around for over eight years, but "DESCENT
FROM HELL" is only their second release. THE ORDEAL has a strong European Power
Metal sound as well as some New Wave Of British Heavy Metal influences. I kept thinking
of bands like RHAPSODY, HAMMERFALL, BLIND GUARDIAN mixed with lots of
IRON MAIDEN, DIO & old school JUDAS PRIEST. Not that they have ripped off any of
any of these bands, but just that they are in the same vein as them. The Epic huge sound they
have transforms you to another realm and you feel like your in some fantasy world, this is
why I really kept thinking of RHAPSODY. You take some of the lyrical themes and the
arrangements and IRON MAIDEN kept coming into play. The melodic powerful vocals of
Oliver Oppermaan reminded me of the late great Ronnie James Dio. Being compared to any
of these above bands is great in my eyes, but they are a combination of all of these bands so I
was loving these guys. I wish they had more releases and don't take as long to put out their
nest release! On Hell of a great release! Epic in all areas!!!
